The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria
The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria (ASHN NENC) are one of our strategic partners and part of the MIC Management Group. We are very thankful to the AHSN NENC for their support.
The AHSN NENC have a similar vision to the NIHR Newcastle MIC and support innovation in all its forms within the NHS and social care.
They help to identify, evaluate, adopt and spread innovation across the region by working with their Member Organisations (including the NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Universities).
We are partners on the AHSN’s Innovation Pathway, which was set up by AHSN NENC to support industry at all stages of the innovation lifecycle, from initial concept through to adoption and commercialisation. As an Innovation Pathway Partner, we work with companies being supported by AHSN NENC to provide specialist expertise around evidence evaluation and generation.
We are partners in Diagnostics North East (DxNE) alongside the AHSN NENC, and collaborate on events such as the DxNE conference.
We work closely with the AHSN NENC on ongoing projects. Studies have included developing novel testing strategies for Familial Hypercholesterolemia and examining the practicalities of monitoring kidney function and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from home.
