The NIHR Newcastle MIC shortlisted in the Bright Ideas in Health Awards
We are delighted to be named as a finalist in two categories at this year’s Bright Ideas In Health Awards.
Now in its 18th year, these prestigious awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams working within the NHS, industry and academia. The awardees are recognised for rising to the challenge of improving services provided to patients, either through a technical innovation or through better service delivery. Hundreds of innovators from across the region submitted deserving entries across ten categories.
In partnership with the North East Innovation Lab, we successfully applied for NIHR/Newcastle Hospitals Research Capability Funding to strengthen our shared support to the developers of new diagnostics. This collaboration has been shortlisted in the Innovation Champion Team Award category.
In collaboration with the Newcastle University Stroke Research Group, we are also supporting POCKiT Diagnostics with the development and evaluation of their portable blood test for diagnosing severe stroke. The project team has been shortlisted in the Development of an Innovative Device or Technology category.
We will find out if we have been successful at the Bright Ideas in Health Awards ceremony on 23 March at the Hilton Hotel Newcastle Gateshead.
The winners of the 10 categories will receive a cash prize and support from innovation experts at the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria to progress their ideas.
