One Cell At A Time
Online
We are delighted to share the details of a new online art and science exhibition called “One Cell At A Time”.
The exhibition brings together newly commissioned artworks and creative learning projects that are inspired by the work of the Human Cell Atlas. This global research initiative aims to map every cell type in the human body. The research has the potential to transform our understanding of biology and could revolutionise future healthcare and medicine.
Funded by Wellcome, the exhibition invites visitors to explore our growing understanding of the cells that make up the human body, and the role we play in pioneering scientific discovery. To create these artworks, artists, inventors, designers, poets and dancers collaborated with members of the Human Cell Atlas and local communities throughout 2020 and 2021. The team includes Muzz Haniffa, Professor of Dermatology and Immunology at Newcastle University and Skin and Oral Theme Lead at the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre.
The team hope the exhibition will stimulate discussion with the public who will have a pivotal role in the success of the science.
You can visit the exhibition for free from 29 October until 30 November 2021.
