At present, apart from being involved with the MIC group, I have been a member of the VOICE Research Support Group for 6 years where I help construct lay summaries for researchers, and review and support their projects. I am also a member of the Newcastle Biobank Applications Committee, a facilitator for a joint study being carried out by Newcastle, East Anglia and Birmingham Universities for Alzheimer’s Research and a member of the NIHR Multimorbidity Ageing and Frailty Theme Co-ordinating Group.
I have been involved, and have participated, in many projects concerning healthy ageing, including a workshop held at the Design Council in London, and working with businesses in creating and evaluating new products and systems design for an ageing population. Outside VOICE, I have participated in studies for the NHS Blood Transplant Service, and presently, the COVID-19 Symptoms Study.
Although prevention and control of infection, and healthy ageing are my interests in these groups, Public and Patient Involvement is part of my own healthy ageing plan together with membership of a lifelong learning group, a literary reading group, I am a keen cook and at the age of 75, I am still a physical fitness enthusiast, and campaigner.
