Having a background in Biomedical Sciences and an interest in medical device development, Raasti undertook an MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Newcastle University in 2013. She completed a PhD from Loughborough University in mechanical engineering in 2019, with a focus on bioengineering, working on biomaterial development for cardiovascular applications. She has experience of working in the medical device industry from her time at DePuy Synthes and has three years postdoctoral research experience from Newcastle University, developing novel biomaterials for orthopaedic applications. Raasti joined the MIC in 2022 and brings her industrial and academic experience to her role as diagnostics evaluation healthcare scientist. She has an interest in contributing towards the assessment of novel diagnostics.
