Why acknowledge the MIC?
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) not only expects but requires NIHR Newcastle MIC support to be acknowledged in all research outputs.
The NIHR monitors these references to NIHR Newcastle MIC support and uses them to measure our performance. Future funding for the NIHR Newcastle MIC and other NIHR awards to the partnership (between Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University) is dependent on our success in this area.
In addition, acknowledgements and bibliometric data are regularly used as a metric by the Department of Health & Social Care to justify future budgets for health research funding. Therefore, by acknowledging your funding correctly, you are helping to ensure that clinical research projects and infrastructure will be supported in the future.
